VICKY AND ALEX
LOWER DAMGATE FARM, PEAK DISTRICT, JUNE 2019
One of the first questions I ask couples when we meet up is to describe what kind of wedding they are aiming for. For Vicky and Alex it was "very relaxed and informal wedding", with an emphasis on the "very". They'd taken ownership of their wedding plans and were organising the bulk of it themselves to make sure it was the wedding they wanted.
They had always planned to get the official bit done in the days running up to this particular Saturday in late June. And they had always planned to get married in the Peak District. Thanks to a very late in the day hitch, they ended up having to find a new venue just a week or two before their date. And they managed to find and book the beautiful Lower Damgate Farm.
A perfect venue it turns out, as they wanted the majority of the day to be outdoors if the weather permitted. And it did. As I arrived, Alex and his groomsmen were putting the finishing touches to the pagoda and the seating, all positioned in a field with views of the rolling countryside.
Lower Damgate Farm is a brilliant venue for outdoor wedding photography, not only because of the location and the stunning views, but it also doubles up as an animal sanctuary, and the stars of the show are their lovely alpacas. Well done to Vicky and Alex for braving the animals to get some photos with them.
Their wedding was truly special. From having one of their friends officiate the ceremony and "marry" them, to agreeing to go wandering around in fields at golden hour to get some couple shots, this really did feel like a wedding that they had designed themselves.
