SOPHIE AND CHRIS
DORFOLD HALL, NANTWICH, JUNE 2018
One of the best things about being a wedding photographer is that you get to work at venues that you might not otherwise come across. Places like Dorfold Hall near Nantwich, which is where Sophie and Chris booked for their Cheshire wedding.
We met at the venue a few weeks before the date of the wedding to have a bit of a warm-up shoot and explore the extensive grounds together, so that I could put together a hit list of locations that the couple liked and make sure we covered them in the wedding photographs on the big day.
Dorfold Hall easily makes my list of favourite wedding venues. Not just because it's stunning but also because the team there work so hard to make sure that everything is perfect for the couple, and that includes working with their wedding photographer on the day.
We started the day with getting ready shots of the girls in the guest area of Dorfold Hall, with them making the most of the venue and the prosecco! And then as we were leaving the Bridal Suite to head over to the Coach House there was a teeny tiny issue occurring amongst the groomsmen – the rings had been forgotten and were about half an hour away. I was asked to try and delay Sophie so we had an impromptu bridal portrait shoot in the gorgeous living rooms overlooking the grounds.
After the ceremony everyone headed back to the main hall for the big group shot and then we took the families out into the gardens for a few formal group shots. Just as we finished the shots the weather took a little turn for the wetter which meant we started the couple shots inside the hall. And then the clouds cleared and the sun came back out and so did the couple, meaning we could get more couple shots in the gardens.
The wedding breakfast and reception were held in the marquee next to the venue and as the day rolled on and the booze flowed the wedding party spilled out on to the lawns as guests enjoyed the sunset.
Sophie and Chris were great sports and jumped at every photo opportunity suggested. After one last circuit of the grounds to catch the evening's golden light they headed back to their family and friends to party the night away.

WHAT THEY SAID
"Chris and I are so happy we chose Steve to be our wedding photographer. We spent over 18 months planning our big day, and capturing the moments with our wedding photos was extremely important to us both, and the end results did not disappoint!
Looking at his previous work we knew the photos would be gorgeous, but Steve also worked closely with us to discover our own style and preferences based on our Pinterest board and discussions in our meeting too. Steve met us for a “pre-shoot” at our wedding venue Dorfold Hall about a month before the big day, and this really allowed us to get comfortable with having our picture taken before the day itself arrived. The photos from the “pre-shoot” were amazing and it also gave Steve a chance to explore our venue and he found lots of places in the gardens and hall to take some incredible pictures on the day too.
When the day arrived Steve couldn’t have made us both feel more comfortable, he also provided us with a second photographer so we could capture both the bridal and groom parties getting ready in the morning and get different perspectives throughout the day and night too. I would highly recommend doing the same for anyone getting married! A lot of our photos were simply capturing the moment with candid shots so you could really enjoy the day, but we also wanted a selection of couple shots that were a bit more considered and Steve guided us through these really well.
We could not be happier with the results, thank you so much Steve!"
