CHARLOTTE AND PAUL
EAVES HALL, LANCASHIRE, AUGUST 2017
This sunny Lancashire wedding started at the family home out in the sticks, where there seemed to be dozens of people getting ready; and in the middle of it all there was our lovely bride Charlotte and her team of bridesmaids. We spent a good hour with them as they swapped gifts and sipped bottles of fizz. The weather was so good we took everyone outside into the garden to get some girlie group shots before we set off to the church.
The traditional ceremony took place at St Mary's in Burnley, and you can see in the photos how good the weather was outside. The sunlight beaming through the windows created some interesting dramatic shadows which worked great for the wedding photography.
The final stage of the day took place at Eaves Hall, near Clitheroe. Such a great wedding venue - not just because of the hall itself and the location, but also because of the staff and how they want to work as a team. They made sure I knew of all the best locations and even made sure that I had enough time for the couple shots and the formal group shots. So often things are running behind schedule at weddings and the photography slot gets shortened, so it was appreciated that the venue and the staff worked with us on this.
We blasted through the group shots as quickly as possible, as there were quite a few and the sun was pretty intense, so we could see the couple and guests melting a bit. Then the couple grabbed Reggie (their dog) and we explored the grounds to get (just a few) couple shots.
The wedding breakfast and speeches followed, and then guests played games and enjoyed their drinks outside throughout the afternoon. Before the evening reception kicked off, the couple wanted to make use of the classic Juliet balcony at the front of the hall for an epic 'throwing the bouquet' shot.
Then it was all about the dancing, and I can honestly say we were sorry to leave. Everyone was having a great time – and the Sambuca shots were out immediately. I'm sure the rest of the wedding night will have been suitably fun (and beautifully messy).
WHAT THEY SAID...
WHAT THEY SAID...
"We were nervous about choosing a photographer but Steve immediately put all those worries to rest and made the whole process worry free. His communication was great: we spoke on the phone very early on, he insisted on speaking to us both, he met us for a drink just to get to know us and he was, of course, brilliant on the day.
He made nothing feel forced and it all felt completely natural. This shows in the photos. Also very understanding and will do more of the shots you like and less of the ones you don't. We love the photos. Thanks a lot! Paul and Charlotte (and Reggie!)"
